Van Gogh Prints: the Dark Past

There are a lot of reasons why Van Gogh Prints are always sought out by art collectors. One of them includes the life story of the artist which is as mysterious as the art pieces he left behind. It is a fact that he was suffering mental problems throughout his lifetime. This was revealed when he cut off a part of his ear lobe and offered it to his friend, Gauguin. He had a constant episode of madness and lucidity and it was decided that he should be sent to an asylum for proper treatment. In May 1890, he seemed okay so he got out of the asylum under the watchful eye of Dr. Gachet. Sadly, after two months, he took his own life. Among all his art pieces, he only sold one painting which was entitled “Starry Night”. All of his artworks were done in a powerful, energetic and dramatic way. It is no wonder why most people are lured to buy it.
